Katie & Eric chose the Vail Wedding Deck on top of Vail Mountain for their Colorado Destination Wedding. You can’t get more breathtakingly beautiful Colorado scenery than that! It was a joy for Jason and I to be their wedding photographers. Typical Colorado mountain storms came and went throughout the day, but the heavens really opened up once we got to the top of the mountain! Katie & Eric were torn on whether to “call it” and use their backup plan at the bottom of the mountain or wait the storm out. They were just about to pack it up when the clouds broke and the wind stopped! Yeah! We were so happy that after all the work they put into planning a mountaintop wedding, they got it. The wedding ceremony was very sweet. Eric’s Naval dress uniform popped against the mountains in every photograph and Katie’s dress flowed beautifully in the breeze. Throughout the day I kept being reminded of An Officer and A Gentleman, but Katie & Eric’s love story was WAY better.
By the way, Katie designed all the invitations and centerpieces herself! She is such a talented woman and her vision for the day was perfect. Her sister put together the flowers arrangement and her aunt made the “Yoda” cake-topper. Can we say she comes from a crazy-talented family?
P.S. Why a “Yoda” cake topper? Eric is an avid Star Wars junkie. Under his pristine uniform, he wore a Star Wars belt… and if that wasn’t enough, their wedding processional music was none other than the Star Wars theme song!
