On December 5th Kelley and Ames surprised their loved ones by getting hitched!
After a skydiving proposal, Kelley and Ames still didn’t think their “story” had enough excitement to it. They invited their friends and family to an engagement/holiday party… little did their unsuspecting loved ones know they were actually attending a wedding that day. Kelley (owner of Kelley Kakes) and Ames her dapper (then) fiance shared this awesome surprise wedding idea with us over a glass of wine a couple of months ago. We loved it and were thrilled to finish the 2009 wedding season with a bang!
You all know the ‘Dancing Aliens’ outside the Performing Arts Complex, right? Well, it turns out it can be the perfect ceremony site for the right couple! Kelley and Ames have an amazing, unique love story and their one-of-a-kind wedding fit them perfectly. To pull off this scheme, Ames met the guests at The Curtis Hotel (where the reception was held) and make excuses for why Kelley and the children (they both have two from previous marriages) weren’t there. Meanwhile, Kelley and all four very excited children hid in the Performing Arts Center. Ames excused himself and booked it to change and get to the aliens before the guests were ushered over. In true Say Anything style, Ames serenaded his bride down the isle with his boom box (or iPod docking station lol) hoisted overhead. Kelley was radiant. I love the image of her man and their children all waiting at the alter for her. So much love there. The day was gorgeous… it was a touch chilly, but so worth it! We couldn’t be happier for these two crazy cats and the beautiful family they are making together.
TC Decker, of Muse Events, coordinated this fun event and made sure it went off without a hitch.

More images to come from this surprise wedding in the next blog post, including Kelley’s amazing cake design. Stay tuned!
